Fifa release latest rankings with Dunga’s men to start SA2010 as the world’s best and Cameroon leading Africa’s contenders.
Euro 2008 winners Spain are second, just ahead of Portugal who lie in third, Bert van Marwijk’s Netherlands are fourth and 2006 World Cup winners Italy complete the top five.
Fabio Capello’s England are eighth behind Germany (sixth) and Argentina (seventh), despite a very impressive qualifying campaign for the World Cup which saw them win nine of their ten games.
The Indomitable Lions are 19th and as such are the highest-ranked of the six African sides in South Africa. Australia are Asia’s top representatives at 20th , while the United States, who lead the way for the Concacaf sides, are 14th.
Hosts South Africa are 83rd on Fifa’s list and Korea DPR are the weakest side in the tournament according to the rankings, sitting at 105th on the list.
